The Pele F.C. Alumni Corporation evolved from the committee that was formed in August 2010 to commemorate the 40th anniversary reunion of our Club. Pele F.C. reunion was inclusive of all past and present executives, coaches, players, and fans and it was held in April 2011 in Georgetown, Guyana. More than 300 loyal former and current executives, coaches, players and fans from several countries attended the week long event in conjunction with the Easter holidays.
Following the Reunion, a Pele F.C. Alumni Committee was formed and was officially incorporated into nonprofit organization in March 2011. The first chairman Denis Carrington was chosen, appropriately, from one of Pele F.C. original players as well as one of the first Pele players to further his education through obtaining a soccer scholarship to Clemson University. under the dedicated direction of Chairman Denis Carrington, and with the help and cooperation of all the board of directors, the membership continues to increase and our financial position has greatly strengtheded through our monthly dues and our loyal supporters.
The main guiding principle of the Pele F.C. Alumni Corporation is to continue to give back to the community where most of the players humble beginning first took shape. Annually, the Alumni plans to reward the top performing school boys and girls who has the aptitude for education and is involved in soccer with school supplies and or uniforms. The Alumni plans to award Scholarships to at least five (5) deserving children who are outstanding in school and on the playing field.
We launched our website: http://www.pelealumnicorp.com to keep our Alumni and supporters up to date on current issues both at the local club level in Guyana and the events of the Alumni Corporation.
With your help we can continue the tradition of excellence through helping the boys and girls in Guyana for many years to come.
